Just wanted to share this short excerpt from a great interview I heard this morning on the Success Talks Podcast with Entrepreneur Jordan Harbinger.

Success: What is the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?

Harbinger: You don’t have to be the best at everything, you just have to be pretty good and work hard at a lot of things. To be in the top 1% in any field is very tough, but to be in the top 3-5% or even 10 is not that hard, so if I can be a top 10 broadcaster, and a top 10 speaker, and a top 10 writer in my particular niche, now, since I’m in the top 10 or top 15 in three different niches, that is such a rare combination of skills, that it makes me more valuable or as valuable as somebody who is THE best in any given area.

Success: Being more well-rounded makes you more valuable.

Harbinger: [It’s] not just [being] well-rounded though.  Somebody who’s got proficiency in different areas – not a jack of all trades – but somebody who is getting towards and approaching mastery in several areas, each of which on their own are valuable, but together are extremely valuable.
