Robert Griffin III of Baylor University expects to be the #2 pick in the NFL draft.  He was a guest on the ESPN set two nights ago when the Baylor Lady Bears beat Stanford in the Women’s Final Four.  RG3 is known for wearing crazy socks such as Superman, Elmo, and other cartoon characters that most people – especially adults –  wouldn’t even think about wearing.  When asked what inspired the socks, Griffin said he wants to show people he is comfortable in his own skin.

I thought this was refreshing.  Too many athletes today want to look the same.  A cookie cutter image.  Here is the Hiesman Trophy winner making a statement about being comfortable with who you are, and not letting peer pressure, society, or the media dictate what your image should be.

Former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy said, “You don’t have to do things the way other people do.  If you go out and do it a different way, you’ll become a leader.”
